Before you begin

This application has nine short sections and takes about 5–10 minutes. It helps to have your documents saved on your device before you start. Anything you can't upload now can be emailed to membership@ppimusic.ie after you submit, with your reference in the subject line.

Who can apply

Only apply if you currently have music products (minimum of one single) available to the public to purchase, stream or download, and you control the sound recording public performance and broadcasting rights in Ireland, i.e. the Masters.

If you are applying as a company

What you need to upload now

At least one ID and one proof of address (issued within the last 3 months) for one director or partner; a sole trader uploads their own. The rest can be emailed to membership@ppimusic.ie after you submit, with your reference in the subject line.

Everyone also needs

A completed Track Registration Form covering your audio and video releases — download the template (CSV). The completed Track Registration Form can be emailed after submitting your application.
A web link to your product on a recognised download or streaming site, or scans of CD/DVD artwork showing the record label and ⓟ name

Accepted file types

PDF, JPG, PNG or Word documents, up to 10 MB per file. If you only have paper copies, a clear photo taken on your phone is fine.

Membership eligibility

These questions establish that you hold rights PPI is able to administer.

1. Product on sale in the Republic of Ireland*

I confirm that we have an audio recording product for sale to the general public in the Republic of Ireland — physically in a retail shop or from an internet outlet, or digitally from one of the recognised download or streaming sites in Ireland.

See pro-music.org for the list of recognised sites. PPI membership requires a recording (minimum of one) already on sale to the public, to stream or download on the recognised platforms (Spotify, iTunes), or to purchase in stores in the Republic of Ireland. If you are not there yet, please contact membership services on +353 1 280 5977 (option 2) or membership@ppimusic.ie before applying.

2. Do you produce music videos?*

3. Are you in a position to assign to PPI all the performing rights in your recordings, present and future, for the Republic of Ireland?*

4. How does your legal title to these rights arise?*

a) We are the original record company — your company produced the recording.

b) We are the exclusive licensee — of the original record company that produced the sound recording.

c) We are the assignee — of the original record company that produced the sound recording.

d) None of the above — you will be asked to explain how your right to collect arises.

Please explain how your right to collect payments for the performing rights for the Republic of Ireland arises*

The performing right is the exclusive or sole right to: i) play the recording in public; ii) broadcast the recording; iii) include the recording in a cable service — in the Republic of Ireland.

Identity documents

Photo ID and proof of address for each person are uploaded against their name in section 4 (or marked "I'll email them after submitting" there), so nothing is needed here.

Declaration and signature

Please read the declaration in full before signing.

I/We hereby apply to be admitted as a Member of PPI upon and subject to the Constitution of PPI, a copy of which I have received and which I/We agree to become bound by on election.

If admitted to Membership, I/We further undertake, on election and from time to time thereafter, if and when requested by the Directors in writing to do so, to assign to PPI in the form prescribed by PPI the performing right in my/our sound recordings and/or music videos for the Republic of Ireland.

I/We further undertake to supply PPI with the following information at regular intervals:

Full and accurate details of all new recordings issued — see the Track Registration Form.
Full and accurate identification details of the recording artists named on my/our recordings.
Details of any addition to or deletion from the labels or producers from which I am/we are entitled to receive performing right revenue from the Republic of Ireland, immediately after the addition or deletion occurs.
Expiry dates of licensing agreements.
Changes to trading name, business address, registered office address or bank details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. At least one director or partner uploads their photo ID and proof of address with the application. For anyone else, choose I’ll email them after submitting, then email their documents to membership@ppimusic.ie with your application reference (we email it to you) in the subject line. The Track Registration Form and the company documents can be emailed the same way.
